The VertiCairo Experience
At VertiCairo, we believe education can change the way we understand our relationship with nature and the cities we live in. Our experiences are designed for curious minds of all ages, bringing together sustainability, ecology, biology, physics, architecture and biophilic design through an interactive, hands-on journey.

From the history of agriculture in ancient civilizations to urbanization, modern cities and today’s closed-loop growing systems, visitors explore how the way we grow and live has evolved — and how science, nature, architecture and biophilic design can help us rethink how we grow and live in urban environments, integrate more plant life into the built environment, and create greener, oxygen-rich spaces.
At the heart of the experience is a bigger question: as our cities continue to grow, how can we bring nature back into the places where we live, learn and work?

What to Expect
The VertiCairo Experience combines an interactive learning session with a guided exploration of our living systems.
Visitors journey through the evolution of agriculture and urbanization, explore some of the challenges associated with conventional food production and growing cities, and discover how closed-loop systems, sustainability and biophilic design can offer new ways of thinking about our relationship with nature and resources.

Inside VertiCairo, these ideas come to life. Visitors explore plants, fish and aquatic ecosystems while learning about ecosystems, the nitrogen cycle, water cycles, light and plant growth, resource efficiency, and the relationships between living organisms and their environment.
The experience connects these scientific principles with architecture and design, exploring how nature and living systems can be integrated into buildings and urban spaces to create greener, oxygen-rich environments and bring people closer to nature.

Learning Through Science, Nature & Design
Rather than looking at sustainability as a single subject, the VertiCairo Experience explores how different disciplines connect.
Through ecology and biology, visitors discover the relationships between plants, aquatic life, microorganisms and their environments.
Through physics, they explore light, energy, water and the conditions plants need to grow.
Through architecture and biophilic design, they explore how nature and living systems can become part of the spaces, buildings and cities around us.
Our closed-loop aquatic systems provide a living demonstration of many of these principles, allowing visitors to see how water, nutrients, plants, aquatic life and microorganisms interact as part of an interconnected ecosystem.

From Ancient Civilizations to the Cities of Tomorrow
The story of VertiCairo begins long before modern technology.
Visitors explore how ancient civilizations developed ways to grow food and manage natural resources, how agriculture evolved over time, and how urbanization changed the relationship between people, food production and nature.
From there, the experience moves into the present and future — exploring modern growing methods, closed-loop systems, resource efficiency, sustainability and the role that architecture and biophilic design can play in bringing nature back into increasingly urban environments.
It is a journey from how we grew in the past to how we might grow and live in the cities of the future.

An Experience for Different Ages
For our youngest visitors, VertiCairo is a place of discovery. Children can interact with plants and aquatic life, observe ecosystems firsthand and begin exploring where food comes from and how different parts of nature depend on one another.
Older students can go deeper into biology, ecology and physics, exploring concepts such as the nitrogen cycle, plant growth, light measurement, water efficiency and closed-loop systems.
For university students and adults, the experience expands into broader conversations around sustainability, urbanization, food systems, architecture, biophilic design, resource use and the integration of nature into the built environment.
The depth and focus of each experience can be adapted to the age, background and interests of the group.
Highlights of the Experience
From Ancient Civilizations to Today: Explore how agriculture has evolved over time and how urbanization has changed our relationship with food, resources and nature.
Living Systems in Action: See plants, fish, water and microorganisms interacting within functioning aquatic ecosystems and discover the science that connects them.
Ecology & Biology: Explore ecosystems, natural cycles, the nitrogen cycle and the relationships between different living organisms.
Light & Physics: Discover how light is measured, how plants use it and why light plays such an important role in plant growth and the design of growing environments.
Closed-Loop Systems: See how water and nutrients can circulate through interconnected systems and explore approaches to using resources more efficiently.
Sustainability: Explore water use, resource conservation, food production and some of the environmental challenges associated with how we grow and live today.
Architecture, Infrastructure & Biophilic Design: Discover how plants, nature and living systems can be integrated into buildings and urban infrastructure — from façades and rooftops to roads, bridges, pillars and public spaces — to create greener environments and reconnect people with nature.
The Future of Urban Living: Explore how sustainability, science, architecture, infrastructure and design can come together to rethink how we grow and live in urban environments, bringing more nature into our cities and creating greener, oxygen-rich spaces.
Tailored for Schools, Universities, Groups & Families
Every group is different, and the VertiCairo Experience can be adapted accordingly.
For schools and universities, we can work with educators to align the experience with specific learning objectives, curricula and areas of study. A biology class may explore ecosystems and the nitrogen cycle in greater depth, while students studying architecture, design or sustainability may focus more closely on urbanization, biophilic design and the integration of living systems into the built environment.
For multidisciplinary groups, the experience brings these subjects together, demonstrating how science, sustainability, nature, architecture and design are interconnected.
Family and private group experiences can also be adapted to different ages and interests, creating an experience that is both educational and engaging.
